These are my contributions to the Thousand Parsec project. Thousand Parsec is a framework for turn based space empire building games.
You can install Thousand Parsec on Gentoo Linux using my overlay:
/etc/layman/layman.cfg:http://www.mavrinac.com/files/tp/layman-tp.xmllayman -a thousand-parsec (you may need to layman -L first). For more information regarding overlays, see the Gentoo overlays users' guide.
All of the Thousand Parsec ebuilds are currently keyworded testing (~x86, ~amd64, and some ~sparc); you will therefore need to add the necessary atoms to package.keywords in order to install them. They probably also work on other architectures, so feel free to try.
These are relatively new ebuilds in need of testing. If you have used (or attempted to use) these ebuilds, please contact me and let me know how it worked out, specifying what architecture you are on.
My proposal to Thousand Parsec for Google Summer of Code 2008 was accepted. I am currently in the process of modifying the C++ server for remote configuration and maintenance as a daemon, with a new configuration protocol, and the Python client (and possibly other clients) to present an interface to start and configure the server and AI clients for a single-player game mode.
For now, you can see my progress here.
